Indiana county OKs curb on sale of pot substitute

FORT WAYNE, Ind. A northeastern Indiana county is getting a jump on state legislators by moving to ban store sales of a synthetic marijuana substitute known as K2 or Spice.
The action by Allen County commissioners on Friday does not cover possession or use of the drug. That could be covered if lawmakers enact a statewide ban, but that is not expected until next July.
This is a stopgap, said county Commissioner Nelson Peters.
County Attorney Bill Fishering said commissioners chose not to include the use, possession or sale of K2 by individuals because of enforcement issues.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP)—Darrius Gates ran for 160 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night as Indiana State routed St. Joseph’s of Indiana 57-7.
Indiana State rolled up 371 yards on the ground, with Shakir Bell gaining 133 of them. Gates and Bryant Kent each had 22-yard touchdown runs in the first quarter, defensive lineman Rod Hardy ran in from 3 yards and the Sycamores blocked a punt late in the second quarter, with Justin Hilton recovering in the end zone for another score.
Indiana State finished the night with seven rushing touchdowns in its highest-scoring performance since 1999.

Investigation: Indiana regulator cheated gamblers on complaints

An Indiana Gaming Commission internal probe prompted by a Times investigation has found one of its own compliance enforcers was hiding gamblers' complaints against Indiana's 13 casinos for a year or more.
The commission now is investigating and responding to all unanswered casino patron complaints from 2009 and taking "appropriate action" against the accused employee, according to a statement issued last week by commission Deputy Director Jennifer Reske.
